Abstract:

A 40yearold female with a medical history of bipolar disorder treated with lithium therapy for 15 months presented with nephrotic syndrome and acute kidney injury. Renal biopsy revealed effacement of podocyte foot processes and acute tubular necrosis. The patient was treated with discontinuation of lithium therapy, which decreased the proteinuria and resolved all the  symptoms. The final diagnosis was lithiuminduced minimal change disease.
