Abstract:

Serum procalcitonin (PCT) has been widely used in clinical practice,including the differential diagnosis of bacterial infection,the severity of disease,and the monitoring of clinical antibiotic treatment.As an important organ that maintains a relatively stable homeostasis,the kidney plays an important role in the clearance and metabolism of PCT.Changes in renal function may affect the level of PCT,and clinical treatments such as continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) can also has an impact on the clinical value of serum PCT.Here we  reviewed the clinical application value of serum PCT in urinary tract infection,acute and chronic renal insufficiency and CRRT.
