Abstract:

Abstract Acute kidney injury (AKI) has a high incidence. The renal replacement therapy consists of extracorporeal blood purification and peritoneal dialysis which has often been overlooked in the past decades. Compared with hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis is more convenient, cost-effective, free of anticoagulation, and preserving renal residual function, which has special advantages for children or patients with hemodynamic instability. Recent researches indicate that peritoneal dialysis is a potential therapy of AKI. The following article reviewes the advantages and disadvantages of the application of peritoneal dialysis in AKI.
