Abstract: The increasing aging of the population has resulted in a significant societal burden due to the emergence and progression of age-related diseases. Aging-related kidney diseases are recognized as a significant geriatric medical concern within the spectrum of age-related diseases. The podocytes serve as the outermost layer of the glomerular filtration membrane, and any deviations in their structure and function are intricately associated with renal disorders. The proposition that senescent glomerulosclerosis is a disease primarily affecting podocytes has been put forth and extensively supported by empirical evidence. In recent years, an increasing body of research has demonstrated the significance of podocyte senescence as a crucial factor and a prospective target for the treatment of kidney injury. In this study, we aim to conduct a comprehensive analysis and examination of the function and underlying processes of podocyte senescence in the context of kidney injury.
