Abstract:

Hypoxiainducible factor 1 (HIF1) is a master regulator switch for the adaptive response to cellular and tissue hypoxia. It has been reported to participate in various kidney diseases, including acute kidney injury (AKI),chronic kidney disease (CKD).Previous studies have shown that HIF1 could regulate development of renal disease by transcriptional regulation of downstream target genes, interacting with other signaling pathways and epigenetic modifications of the genome. This paper will summarize the role of HIF1 in kidney diseases and the underlying mechanisms.
