Abstract: Zinc is an important trace element to maintain the normal structure and function of human cells.Blood zinc  level is insufficient and decreases with the decline of renal function in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).Moreover,hypozincemia further aggravates progression of renal damage and complications of CKD,such as cardiovascular events,mineral and bone disorder,etc.In this review,we focused on the relationship between zinc deficiency and CKD from four aspects: causes of zinc deficiency CKD patients, impacts of zinc deficiency on CKD and its complications,and  benefits of zinc supplementation,so as to provide evidence for clinical treatment or intervention.
