Abstract:

ABSTRACT   Cellular or replicative senescence is currently known as the key element of aging. The increasing evidence indicates that cellular senescence pathways (p53 pathway and p16 pathway) play a central role in disease progression and graft dysfunction after kidney transplantation. In this review, the current concepts in the molecular mechanisms of cellular senescence, and correlate these theories with the available literature on aging of renal allografts were summarized.
