Abstract: The incidence of obesity has increased over the last few decades, which plays an important role in the development and progression of various kidney diseases. In response, the American Society of Nephrology has issued its first guidance for managing obesity in adults with kidney disease. This guidance emphasizes the severe impact of obesity on the health of these patients and proposes a comprehensive management algorithm. The algorithm encompasses psychosocial interventions, lifestyle changes, pharmacological treatments, and metabolic or bariatric surgery to achieve personalized weight loss through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach.
