Abstract:

ABSTRACT  More than 80% of peritoneal dialysis patients are complicated with cardiovascular calcification, and more than one third have heart valve calcification. Calcification is a predictor of cardiovascular mortality and all-cause mortality. The main risk factors of calcification included age, dialysis vintage, previous cardiovascular disease, smoking, inflammation, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, hypercalcemia, hyperphospheremia, and abnormal parathyroid hormone. Adjusting mineral metabolism was used mainly to prevent and treat calcification. The prevalence of calcification, calcification mechanism, related factors, prognosis and treatment will be reviewed in this article.
