Abstract:

ABSTRACT Differentiated somatic cells including renal tubular epithelial cells and mesangial cells can be reprogrammed to an embryonic-like state, named induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC). These reprogrammed cells could differentiate into cell types of the three germ layers in vitro and in teratomas in vivo. Injection of iPSC or podocyte derived from iPSC could alleviate renal injury in kidney disease models. In this paper, the researching progressions of induced pluripotent stem cells in renal regeneration will be reviewed.
