Abstract:

Objective:To investigate the incidence, primary disease and age of the initial hemodialysis patients in Sichuan province from 2011 to 2016.
Methodology:We retrospectively review all the incident hemodialysis patients registered in the Chinese National Renal Data System (CNRDS) from 20110101 to 20161231 in Sichuan province.Their demographics and primary causes were investigated.Stratified analyses based on year, sex, age and other factors are conducted.
Results:(1)In Sichuan province, the annual incidence of hemodialysis patients between 2011 to 2016 were 6184 per million people(pmp),7375 pmp,7804 pmp,6604 pmp,7261 pmp, and 6098 pmp respectively;(2) There were 33 632 initial hemodialysis patients of Sichuan province (19 997 males,13 635 females, males: females=15∶1),Males have significantly higher HD annual incidence than females.(P<005);(3) We divided the initial cases(32 952) into 8 age groups, and found that 40~69 years of age predominate in the initial hemodialysis patients, and percentage of patients over 60 years were rising year by year;(4) The first three primary causes of ESRD in initial hemodialysis patients were chronic glomerulonephritis, diabetic nephropathy and hypertensive nephrosclerosis, the proportion of chronic glomerulonephritis was descending while the proportion of diabetes was rising.
Conclusion:
In Sichuan province, elderly patients over 40 years account for the main body of new initial hemodialysis patients.Males have higher HD incidence than females. The average age for incident HD patients is gradually increasing. The leading primary diseases for initial hemodialysis patients are glomerulonephritis, diabetes, and hypertension,in which diabetes patients are increasing.
