Abstract: Sarcopenia is a common complication in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients. These patients have poor daily living ability and exercise intolerance,which may further lead to adverse consequences such as fall,fracture,physical disability and death. Exercise intervention is one of the effective and clinically evident methods for the treatment of sarcopenia in MHD patients. In this paper,the pathogenesis of sarcopenia in MHD patients and effect of exercise intervention on their physical function were elaborated. We also reviewed the subjective and objective methods of physical activity evaluation and the study of clinical significance of MHD patients. It is hoped to provide a valuable reference for the detection and exercise intervention treatment of MHD patients with sarcopenia.
