Abstract: Objective:To explore the correlation and possible mechanism between benzo[g,h,i]perylene (BghiP) in polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN).
Methodology:Thirty cases of IMN and ten cases of secondary membranous nephropathy (SMN) confirmed by renal biopsy in the Department of Nephrology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, from June 2020 to September 2020, were selected as subjects. Fasting blood samples were taken and the contents of PAHs and transforming growth factorβ 1 (TGFβ1) in blood were measured to analyze the relationship between BghiP and clinical indicators and TGFβ1.
Results:The average concentration of sixteen main components come from PAHs in IMN group and SMN group suggest that the average concentration of BghiP in IMN group was the highest (about 1259 μg/mL) and was significantly higher than that in SMN group (P=0004). The concentration of BghiP in IMN group was positively correlated with 24hour urinary protein, serum phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R) antibody and total cholesterol (r=0401, 0404, 0483, respectively, P=0028, 0027, 0007, respectively), and negatively correlated with serum total protein and albumin (r=-0550,-0440, respectively, P=0002, 0015, respectively). In addition, there was a positive correlation between BghiP and TGFβ1 (r=0558, P=0001). The results of linear regression analysis showed that when the concentration of BghiP increased by 1 μg/ml, the concentration of TGFβ1 increased by 0112 ng/mL (P=0001).
Conclusion:The concentration of BghiP is higher in the blood of IMN patients than in the blood of SMN patients, BghiP is closely related to the occurrence and development of IMN, and TGFβ1 may be involved in the occurrence and development of IMN caused by BghiP.
