Abstract: The incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) is as high as 30% in critically ill patients, more than 40% of which are associated with sepsis. Current studies have found that renal replacement therapy (RRT) can reduce systemic inflammatory response by removing inflammatory mediators and excess water from the body, weaken the peak of inflammation, and reestablish immune homeostasis, which may have profound impact on treatment of sepsis with AKI (SAAKI). However, the timing of initiation of RRT for SAAKI is still controversial, and there are few relevant studies, and most of them are small, retrospective, singlecenter, observational studies. Therefore, this article reviews the latest research progress on the optimal timing of initiation of RRT by reviewing the relevant literature on RRT for critically ill patients with AKI in recent years.
