Abstract: Multiple signaling pathways are involved in the activation,proliferation,and migration of Bowmans parietal epithelial cell (PEC),leading to formation of glomerular extracapillary hyperplasia (crescent) and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis.The purpose of this paper is to review the mechanisms and pathological characteristics of PEC lesions from three aspects:signal pathways that promote the activation and proliferation of PEC,crosstalk between PEC and podocyte,and phenotypic transformation of PEC to podocyte.
