Abstract:

Krüppellike factor (KLF) is a family of zinc finger transcription factors essential for mammalian embryonic development and various human diseases.Previous studies have identified that KLFs play an important role in renal physiological processes, including glomerular filtration barrier integrity, tubulointerstitial inflammation, renal fibrosis and vascular lesions.Although there is overlap in the downstream molecular mechanisms of KLFs,their structure and function are not completely the same. This review focuses on the current understanding of KLFs in the kidney, including their expression patterns and regulatory functions in kidney injury and fibrosis.
