Abstract:

Catheterrelated complications are among the main reasons for peritoneal dialysis (PD) failure, including PD catheterrelated mechanical complications (such as migration, leakage, obstruction, hernia, visceral injury and hemorrhage) and infections which contain exitsite infection (ESI) and tunnel infection. Clinicians should be familiar with the clinical manifestations of catheterrelated complications, timely find them and early treat them. In order to decrease the occurrence of catheterrelated complications and improve PD patients longterm outcome, for highrisk patients, taking effective preventive measures would be worked. In this paper, we reviewed the etiology, clinical manifestations, treatment and prevention of PD catheterrelated complications.
