Abstract:
A 59-year-old woman developed gross hematuria, edema, and progressive renal dysfunction one week after undergoing internal fixation for a patellar fracture. Renal biopsy revealed focal proliferative glomerulonephritis with predominant C3 deposition accompanied by acute tubular injury. The patient initially showed transient improvement after antimicrobial and immunosuppressive therapy, but soon relapsed with inflammatory manifestations of the knee joint. Removal of the internal fixation device with joint debridement was performed, followed by antimicrobial therapy and glucocorticoid treatment. The patient gradually improved, and no recurrence was observed during follow-up.
