Abstract: Extracorporeal CO2 removal (ECCO2R) is an effective treatment for removing CO2 in circulation. With lower risk and complications, ECCO2R has the advantages of lower invasiveness, technical requirements and cost compared with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). However, some studies have found that there are problems in the clinical application of ECCO2R, mainly including the applicable population and anticoagulant problems, which limit its clinical promotion. This article aims to review the recent progression of clinical application of ECCO2R technology.
