Abstract: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease with multiple system involvement. The pathogenesis of SLE is characterized by loss of B cell selftolerance to autoantigen production of autoantibodies.Currently, the main choice in treating SLE are glucocorticoids, cytotoxic agents and calcineurin inhibitors. However, there are still some patients with poor response to treatment or recurrence. In recent years,B cell clearance specifically has gradually become an important strategy and research field in SLE treatment. The feasibility and prospects of this strategy is further comfirmed by the clinical expeience of rituximabIn this review,we will discuss the role of B cell and the current situation of B cell depletion stategy in SLE.The feasibility of Chimeric antigen receptorT cell (CART cell) therapy in SLE will be further explored.
