Abstract: Podocytes are terminally differentiated epithelial cells of  glomerular, highly specialized intercellular junctions between adjacent foot processes are bridged by slit diaphragms. The stability of slit diaphragms molecules is of great significance in maintaining the normal morphology of  podocytes and the function of glomerular filtration.Signal regulatory protein alpha(SIRPα) is a recently found transmembrane protein expressed at  slit diaphragm and is heavily tyrosine phosphorylated for intracellular signaling transduction, maintains  autophagy activity of podocytes under normal conditions.Changes in SIRPα phosphorylation level may participate in and mediate  podocyte injury. This review focuses on the research progress of SIRPα in podocyte injury.
