Abstract:
ABSTRACT A 51-year-old man was hospitalized with persistent renal dysfunction after onset of epidemic hemorrhagic fever 6 years ago. His renal biopsy revealed mild mesangio-proliferative change without immune complex deposition. In view of the mismatch of renal dysfunction and renal pathologic features, we took additional effort to find the etiology and ascribed his renal insufficiency to hypothyroidism secondary to hypopituitarism which was caused by epidemic hemorrhagic fever. After hormone compensation therapy with glucocorticosteroid and levothyroxine, his renal function was ameliorated.
