Abstract:

ABSTRACT Complement casecade is a kind of immunologic defensive mechanism which can effectively induce cellular apoptosis and enhance cellular immunology. Complement overactivation and dysregulation play an important role in the development of many chronic kidney diseases and rejection after transplantation. The location of complement activation within the kidney parenchyma is associated with the pathologic and clinical features of kidney diseases and ischemia-reperfusion injury, antibody-mediated rejection and cell-mediated rejection of transplanted kidneys. Recently, complement-targeting therapies have become a surge of interest in the region of nephrology, focusing on anti-C5 monoclonal antibody, C5 receptor antagonist, C1 inhibitor and Complement receptor 1. This review focuses on anticomplement drugs in complement-relative kidney disease.
