Abstract:

Abstract: Resolvins are a class of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid derivatives newly identified with strong anti-inflammatory biological effects. Resolvins are categorized into D series, E series as well as Aspirin-triggered resolvins. Resolvins can be synthesized naturally in kidney. Exogenous supplementation of Resolvin D1 can protect mice kidneys from ischemia reperfusion injury. By inhibiting proliferation of myofibroblasts, resolvin E1 shows therapeutic effect against renal fibrosis in obstructive nephropathy. Recent studies also reported that resolvins could mitigate lipopolysaccharide-induced kidney injury and allograft rejection in kidney transplant. The present review would summarize researches of resolvins in the field of kidney diseases.
