Abstract: With the popularization of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mass spectrometry,metabolomics emerged at the right moment.Metabolomics could provide information about the actual processes that are occurring within the body.Moreover,it could also reflect the effects of diet,environment,and gut microbiome on kidney diseases.Due to the close interactions between kidney and metabolism,metabolomics has enormous potential in the fields of nephrology for biomarkers and molecular mechanisms.In this article,we reviewed recent metabolomic findings relevant to kidney diseases.
