Abstract:

Ｏｂｊｅｃｔｉｖｅ：To evaluate the effect of carvedilol on cardiac function of hemodialysis patients with diabetic nephropathy.
Ｍｅｔｈｏｄｏｌｏｇｙ：Seventytwo patients were collected in Guangdong General Hospital hemodialysis center from October 2009 to June 2013 in this retrospective study. They were divided into carvedilol therapy group (n=14) and control group (n=58). Echocardiography measurement was performed before and one year after treatment. Survival rate was compared between two groups.
Ｒｅｓｕｌｔｓ：In the therapy group, the mean left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) after oneyear followup was elevated than that before treatment (P=0047 6). However, no similar improvement of LVEF was observed in the control group, but there was no significant difference of survival rates between two groups.
Ｃｏｎｃｌｕｓｉｏｎ：Carvedilol can improve the LVEF of hemodialysis patients with diabetic nephropathy.
