Abstract:
IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is the most common primary glomerulonephritis in China, but its exact etiology and pathogenesis are still unclear. However, more and more evidences show that the abnormality of intestinal mucosal immunity plays an important role in IgAN. Various studies imply that dysregulated intestinal mucosal immunity caused by dietary components, intestinal microbiota and intestinal diseases can promote the production of secretary IgA (sIgA), which is eventually deposited in the glomerular mesangium, and then cause IgAN. Therefore, we will discuss the pathogenic mechanism of intestinal mucosal immune dysfunction in IgA nephropathy.
