Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the outcome and clinical features of renal transplantation (RT) for recipients with lupus nephritis (LN). Methodology:From March 1994 to December 2014, eighteen LN patients received RT were enrolled into this retrospective study. 72 nonLN patients with RT were regarded as control. Their clinical features, recurrence and prognosis were analyzed and compared. Results:They were 5 males and 13 females with an average age of (33±7) years old in LN patients with RT. The median followup time was 528 in lupus group and 585 months in control group respectively. Nobody was died in lupus group and only one was died in control group. The graft survival rates for lupus patients were 100%, 889% and 833% at 1, 5 and 10 years respectively, similar to the control survival rates of 100%, 931% and 889% (P=058). Recurrent LN was detected in one patient, but did not lead to graft failure. Conclusion:Longterm graft survivals were similar in LN and nonLN RT recipients. Renal transplant is an alternative therapy for ESRD in this population.
