Iron supplementation in chronic kidney diseases patients with anemia

Abstract:

ABSTRACT The chemical activity of iron is very high. It plays an important physiological role in healthy human body. But deficiency or overload of it can cause tissue damage. Especially in early chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients which need or no need for dialysis, who often require iron supplementation. The more popularization and application of kinds of iron therapy in this population is, the better understanding for nephrologists, when they concern about of the pros and cons of iron supplementation. It is still a problem to be solved that how to effectively take iron up and reduce the complications. In this paper, the application of iron treatment related problems and a new type of iron supplement is briefly introduced.
