Abstract:
ABSTRACT Cardiovascular complication is an important reason of dropping out of peritoneal dialysis (PD), about 40% of those patients according to data from our centre. The volume overload is usually related to hypertension and congestive heart failure, which may contribute to the high cardiovascular mortality and adverse outcomes. In this article, the pathophysiological mechanisms, assessment methods, control measures of volume state in PD patients are reviewed.
