Abstract:
Peritoneal dialysis (PD)-associated peritonitis was usually caused from single-organism. Polymicrobial peritonitis was associated with a significantly lower frequency. The pathogenesis remains unclear. It was likely attributed to abdominal diseases, and may be attributed to the enteric dysbacteriosis caused by early usage of wide-spectrum antibiotics. Peritonitis mixed with fungi and bacteria has bad prognosis, low cure rate and high recurrence rate. Early diagnosis and pertinent therapy are particularly important.
