Abstract: Sarcopenia is a common systemic progressive muscle disease that has been confirmed to be associated with an increased incidence of adverse outcomes after major surgeries. As the best treatment option for patients with end-stage renal disease, kidney transplantation, understanding the existence of sarcopenia in the population waiting for kidney transplantation and its impact on adverse events after transplantation is of great significance. This article initially summarizes the research progress on the impact of sarcopenia on the outcomes of patients and grafts after kidney transplantation, with the aim of providing theoretical support for aspects such as the selection of clinical recipients, the implementation of pre-rehabilitation plans before transplantation, and the optimization and improvement of patient prognosis plans.
