Hypophosphatemia in continuous blood purification

  • Online:2020-12-28 Published:2020-12-28

Abstract: Electrolyte abnormalities often occur in patients undergoing  continuous blood purification(CBP),and hypophosphatemia is very common.CBP can cause continuous loss of serum phosphate. The decrease of phosphorus level may cause insufficiency of multiple organs, such as respiration, circulation and neuromuscular system. Hypophosphatemia during CBP may induce respiratory failure, prolonged mechanical ventilation, and difficulty in weaning. Therefore, during CBP,patients′ nutrition and renal function should be evaluated, serum phosphorus should be monitored. Individualized phosphate replacement was effective and safe . Hypophosphatemia in CBP is still a neglected problem. This review mainly introduces the mechanism, possible effects and intervention measures of hypophosphatemia in CBP patients.
