Abstract:
Growth failure is frequently observed in children with endstage renal disease(ESRD),and a short stature possibly affects a childs psychological and social development.Kidney transplantation is currently the best treatment option for children with ESRD.Moreover,as the duration of dialysis progresses, the potential for renal bone disease and epiphyseal closure increases.Renal transplantation can obviously improve childrens growth and quality of life.Consequently, the growth after RTx has notably improved which is related with age,the function of grafts and the use of glucocorticoid and growth hormone. This review is focused on recent studies about growth after paediatric renal transplantation.
