Abstract:

ABSTRACT  AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), a significant protein kinase extensive distribution in whole body’s tissues and organs. AMPK is thought to be a cellular energy regulator and plays an important role in the regulation of glucose and lipid metabolism. In addition, AMPK takes part in protein synthesis, inflammatory response and oxidative stress process.AMPK is also thought to be involved in the progress of multiple diseases such as atherosclerosis, cancer, diabetes and other metabolic diseases. With further research in recent years, its relationship with kidney disease gradually has been widespread concern. The present review aims to summarize their molecular biology, and their potential uses in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney disease.

Key words: Key words  , AMPK, cellular energy regulator, kidney disease
