Abstract: Hyperphosphatemia is one of the common complications of chronic kidney disease and an important cause of secondary hyperparathyroidism, renal osteodystrophy, vascular and tissue calcification. The current management of patients with chronic kidney disease with hyperphosphatemia mainly consists of a phosphorusrestricted diet, oral phosphate binders and adequate dialysis. Therefore,it is important to find new therapeutic targets for hyperphosphatemia in chronic kidney disease. Currently, there is a new treatment method for limiting phosphate intake, which directly targets extracellular enteral phosphate transport pathway and reduces the absorption of phosphate in intestine. In this review, mechanisms of intestinal regulation of phosphate absorption in patients with chronic kidney disease are introduced. Based on this, new therapeutic targets for hyperphosphatemia are discussed.
