Abstract: Epigenetic modification is one of the important mechanisms of diabetic nephropathy, and podocyte injury is the core event.Epigenetic modification can affect podocytes by altering podocyte structure and function, promoting podocyte apoptosis and epithelial mesenchymal transition, affecting podocyte autophagy, and participating in podocyte endoplasmic reticulum stress and mitochondrial dysfunction.Different epigenetic modifications participate in podocyte injury through crosstalk and interaction.Epigenetics is reversible, changing epigenetic modification through therapeutic intervention may be an important direction for prevention and treatment of diabetic nephropathy.
