Abstract: Glycosylation is a key process for posttranslational modification of proteins.By looking for its characteristic changes,we can provide significant information for early diagnosis, treatment and prognosis evaluation.Abnormal glycosylation modification is closely related to the occurrence and development of renal diseases, including IgA nephropathy, diabetic nephropathy and autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease. In recent years, the advancement of mass spectrometry glycoprotein separation and enrichment technology has greatly promoted the accuracy of glycoproteomics detection, which provides a new technology platform for further understanding the pathogenesis of kidney disease in clinical work. However, considering the low abundance of glycoprotein and the heterogeneity of glycan chain, there are still many obstacles in the glycoproteomics detection process. This article reviews the four commonly used glycoproteomic techniques and their pros and cons, along with their application in the study of renal diseases.
