Abstract:
Renal transplantation has become the “Gold standard” of pediatric renal replacement therapies. In order to prevent rejection reactions, immunosuppression always keeps transplantations company. Steroids played a vital role in immunosuppressive protocols, because of its strong antiinflammatory and immunosuppressive efficacy. However, the side effects of longterm steroids applying must be stressed, especially in children. Immunosuppressive regimens change following the development of pediatric renal transplantation. Many centers attempted to explore the proper ways of steroids minimization therapies for children over the decades, and it has been approved that the steroidsavoidant/early steroidswithdrawal protocol is safe and efficacious.
