Abstract:
Angiotensin II receptor antagonists (ARB) are antihypertensive drugs blocking the reninangiotensin system. Growing evidence proved ARB had kidney protective effect besides the role on proteinuria. Being different from antihypertensive drugs with other mechanisms, ARB could exert kidney protective effect through multiple pathways and is widely used in patients with chronic kidney disease, hypertension or diabetes. This review focuses on proteinurialowing and kidney protective mechanism of ARB, and provides an update about clinical practice.
